BANKING AND CURRENCY

Currency: The currency in Portugal is the EURO (Eur).

Banks are open from Monday to Friday from 08.30 to 15.00. American Express, Visa, Master Card and Diners Club are widely accepted in Portugal. You can get cash advances from your credit card on many of the automated teller machines (ATM) - look for Multibanco which also show transactions in English. Long term visitors and residents should set up a checking account in Portugal, and get an ATM card.
